The Professional Services Provider is expected to work in close collaboration with Transnet Port Terminals Technical, Facilities and Energy Management Departments throughout this assignment. This is to ensure smooth running of the assignment, and that the outcome matches the needs and expectations of TPT. The assignment shall be implemented within 9 months from the date of signing the contract.
The objectives of the assignment shall be as follows:
- Investigate the potential for renewable energy sources within terminal operations.
- Increase energy independence by reducing reliance on grid electricity, while enhancing energy security through diversification of energy generation.
- Investigate and analyze available market solutions
- Provide a financial assessment of how the business can lower energy and associated electricity costs.
- Test and evaluate the economic viability of solar energy systems to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that installations adhere to legal bylaws and regulations for renewable energy deployment and sustainability objectives.
- Raise awareness and encourage participation from all port terminal business units in renewable energy initiatives, fostering collective action towards energy efficiency.
